The Late Late Show host James Corden of Gavin and Stacey fame raced against Top Gear host Matt LeBlanc as part of a promotional video.
Matt LeBlanc will be used to faster cars like the Ariel Nomad now that he is a Top Gear host of the revamped BBC Two motoring show, but the race between himself and Corden, as they do battle on electric scooters, is anything but pedestrian.
The course starts backstage and makes its way through various obstacles including metal speed bumps, plastic walls and random projectiles such as Silly String thrown by employees in the building as part of the ‘Bottom Gear’ showdown.
Corden manages to hold the lead for much of the race, but LeBlanc quickly takes the lead before the race ends in front of the studio audience.
LeBlanc is one of two main presenters on the new Top Gear, alongside radio DJ and TFI Friday presenter Chris Evans. While Evans has been panned for being ‘shouty’, LeBlanc is earning himself a following for his deadpan approach to the show.
Top Gear returns for the fourth episode on Sunday at 8pm on BBC Two. Expect to see a race to Venice, Rory Reid in the Tesla Model X and Chris Harris in the Aston Martin Vulcan.
