Tesco Broadband to get cheaper, Line Rental to rise in March

Right before the Christmas rush properly kicks in, Tesco has announced a couple of price changes.

In 2013, the costs for Tesco’s bundled broadband with phone calls will get cheaper by 50p each, but line rental is set to go up by £1.15.

Not due to take effect until March 2012, the new price for Tesco Broadband Evening & Weekend will be £6.00/month (down from £6.50) and Tesco Broadband Anytime Calls will go down to £10.50/month (from £11.00).

That said the line rental rate will climb to £14.90/month up from £13.75/month, representing an overall price increase of 65p/month.

The rate for made to UK landlines and 0845/0870 numbers outside your package allowance is also going up from 7.5p/minute to 8.4p/minute. The standard call connection fee is also going from 12.5p to 13.8p per call.

Calls to our top international destinations are increasing from 7.5p per minute to 8.4p per minute.

Despite these overall increases Tesco has also promised to freeze all prices until 2014. At least this way customers know they won’t be paying any more in 2013. Tesco is giving customers 30 days over Christmas to switch providers if they want to. At this time of year, with customers perhaps having other things on their mind, like rush-buying the last lot of Christmas shopping.
