4Kin’ hell: Currys PC World slashes hundreds off Ultra HD TV prices for Black Friday

Currys PC World has lopped hundreds off the prices of LG, Samsung and Panasonic 4K Ultra HD sets down for Black Friday.

Until Monday, November 30, stocks depending, Currys PC World will be selling sets like the 49-inch LG 49UF680V LED TV for £549 (down from £999) and the 48-inch Panasonic Viera TX-48CX350B for £479 (down from £599).

While none of the TVs in stock are running Freeview Play, the presence of various app stores means you’ll be able to get some built in smart TV action.

Related: How much is Netflix 4K Ultra HD and what broadband speed do you need?Every unit we’ve seen in the sales so far comes with at least one HDMI 2.0 port, meaning it should be compatible with BT Sport Ultra HD, although there’s no guarantee that HDR, which requires HDMI 2.0a, will work when is start rolling out to that and services like Netflix and Prime Instant Video.

Speaking of Netflix, one of the deals sees you able to get a 50-inch Samsung UE50JU6800 £1,999 down from £2,699) with a six months of free Netflix Premium (normally £8.99/month) thrown in for free. This’ll let you tap into Netflix’s library of 4K Ultra HD content as well was stream shows on up to three other devices.

To make sure you get the hat-trick of 4K services operating in the UK right now, you could hedge your bets and pick up a new Amazon Fire TV box for £80. This means you’ll get all of Amazon’s 4K content as well as access to Netflix, not to mention BBC iPlayer, ITV Hub, Demand 5, TVPlayer and YouTube.

Sadly, Amazon’s only seen fit to pass on a discount to its older, non-4K Fire TV Stick for Black Friday, but considering the savings you’d be making here, you could probably stretch to an extra £80.
