Virgin Media boasts 2 million TiVo homes, adds just 1,000 TV punters in the last quarter

Read Recombu Digital’s UK TV subscriber league table Of the UK’s pay TV operators, Virgin TV is the second biggest in terms of subscriber base. Though relative newcomers TalkTalk TV and BT TV have enjoyed steady growth in recent months, they’ve still got a way to go to catch up with the cable company.

Overall, Virgin’s TV subscriber base has actually shrunk by 45,900 since this time last year. Despite this, the last three months saw growth for Virgin’s TV base for the first time in 2013.

This was in part driven by the arrival of BT Sport on the platform and adding more on-demand content and live channels to Virgin TV Anywhere.

Despite experiencing a decline in subscriber numbers for most of 2013, Virgin Media revealed that the majority of its customers, 65.7 per cent, are triple play providers, taking three of Virgin Media services (TV, broadband, phone or mobile).
