X-Files seasons 1-9 abducted by Amazon Prime Video

Amazon’s snapped up streaming rights to the original X-Files episodes, ahead of the long-awaited new miniseries that’s landing later this month.

The hotly-anticipated new X-Files season is landing on Fox in the States on Sunday, January 24. Channel 5, which has snapped up the UK broadcast rights, has yet to announce a broadcast date, but the press release from last year mentions ‘early 2016’.

Neither the Millennium or The Lone Gunmen spin offs are currently available on Prime Video and nor are either of the X-Files feature films.

Amazon has fingered ‘Squeeze’ (S1E3), ‘Beyond the Sea’ (S1E13) and ‘Triangle’ (S6E3) as worthy of your attention, but it’s failed to mention ‘The Post-Modern Prometheus’ (S5E5) as one of the X-Files highlights. If you only ever watch one episode of The X-Files, make sure it’s this one.

For those still after some Gillian Anderson action, Amazon Prime Video’s also got seasons 1 and 2 of The Fall available to stream now. David Duchovny vehicle Californication meanwhile, is currently available to stream on Netflix.

Amazon Prime Video costs £5.99/month for a standalone subscription. It’s also included free with Amazon Prime membership, which costs a £79/year.
