Want to use BlackBerry 10 as your daily driver but have no interest in using a device without a physical keyboard? Worry no more. Vodafone has begun taking pre-orders for the BlackBerry Q10, featuring that all too familiar portrait QWERTY keyboard for avid typists. The device doesn’t look to come cheap, however, as you’ll only get the device for free on Vodafone with a £37 a month contract.
That tariff will give you unlimited calls and texts as well as 1GB of data. If you need more data, then you’ll need to bump the tariff up to £42 a month which will give you 2GB. As for cheaper tariffs, Vodafone is only offering a £33 a month option for the Q10. You’ll still have to hand over £129 for the phone upfront, and the plan drops down to 600 minutes and 500MB of data.
Still, at least the handset is 4G ready. Vodafone says that when its LTE network does begin to roll out later in the year, you’ll be able to access the high speeds straight away without swapping out the phone. Otherwise, specs for the device are similar to the BlackBerry Z10. The handset includes a dual-core OMAP processor clocked a 1.5Ghz, 2GB of RAM, 16GB of internal storage, and an 8-megapixel camera. The Q10’s 3.1-inch OLED display has a relatively high resolution too, coming in at 720×720.
There’s no indication on when the Q10 will begin shipping, but if Vodafone is taking pre-orders now then the retail release can’t be too far behind. In the meantime you can take a peek at our hands-on with the device when it was announced back in January.
