Carphone made quite a splash last April when it launched its very own iD network, offering up cheap 4G and free roaming in a bid to compete with giants like EE and O2. And it looks like value is still the game plan in 2016, as iD now boasts the cheapest monthly contracts on the iPhone 5s and iPhone 6s, as well as Samsung’s Galaxy S6.
Apple is apparently geared up to launch a new 4-inch phone in a month or two, but its final mini mobile – the iPhone 5s – is still a solid performer, running iOS 9 without issue. You can now grab the 16GB iPhone 5s for the low price of £15.50 per month with no up-front cost on the iD network, which gives you 500GB of data, 150 UK minutes and 5000 texts to play with. Of course, this is a two-year contract and the iPhone 5s will undoubtedly be showing its age come the end of that. But if you’re eager to bag an iPhone and too skint to afford the latest iPhone 6s, it’s a decent option.
The iPhone 6s costs from £27.50 a month on the iD network, which again bags you 500MB of data. Or if you need more storage space, you can upgrade to the 64GB model for £49.99 plus £31.50 a month. That gives you 1GB of data to use each month.
If you’d rather go Android, you can grab Recombu’s favourite phone of 2015, the Samsung Galaxy S6, for just £19.50 a month with a £24.99 up-front cost. It’s the 32GB model and you get 500MB of data bundled.
Samsung is of course tipped to reveal the new Galaxy S7 next month at MWC 2016, which will see Galaxy S6 prices drop across the board. But if you can’t wait that long, this is the best UK deal right now.
