If you love Sony and love Michael Jackson, then crack out the cake and party poppers. If you buy yourself a new Sony Xperia Z2, Xperia Z2 Tablet, Xperia M2 or Xperia Z1 Compact through Carphone Warehouse, you’ll get MJ’s brand new album Xscape as a free digital download, ahead of the official May 13 launch.

Sony Xperia Z2 and other phones come with a free Michael Jackson album at Carphone Warehouse

You can pick up an Xperia Z1 Compact immediately from £27 a month, with no up-front cost, but the other Sony Xperia goodies are all due to hit stores in the coming month. You can pre-order the gorgeous Xperia Z2 right now however, from £42 a month if you don’t want to pay for the handset.

Our man Alex Todd was at the official unveiling of the posthumous Michael Jackson album, and he enjoyed what he heard. The new songs are a typically jazzy blend of soul, dance and pop (a combo that’s still proving incredibly popular thanks to artists such as Pharell), and while each track sounds like an individual entity, as if taken from very different eras of MJ’s career, they still come together into a single entity that flows well rather than feeling disjointed.

Jacko’s history with Sony wasn’t exactly a blissful and loving partnership, but this offer is a treat for MJ fans who are looking to upgrade to one of the latest flagship smartphones, and could well sway the die-hards away from rivals such as the HTC One M8. Would the promise of early Jacko tempt you into a cheeky Xperia pre-order?
