Honor 6X in a nutshell: Specs, UK price, release date and more

All you need to know about the Honor 6X, including full specs, how it compares to other Honor phones like the Honor 5X, and the UK price and release date.

Honor phones are some of the best mid-range mobiles around, offering impressive value for money, and the last to be launched in 2016 is the Honor 6X. This feature-packed phone offers quite a lot for a rather slender asking price and is hitting UK stores in January 2017.

Here’s all you need to know, including Honor 6X specs, UK price and release date.

What is the Honor 6X?

Two years ago, Huawei created the Honor smartphone brand in order to launch affordable mobiles aimed at youthful users. Honor mobiles tend to pack decent specs and features, while keeping the price tag realistic – the most expensive ‘flagship’ Honor phone is the Honor 8, which at £400 is a strong rival to most full-priced premium handsets like the Galaxy S7 and iPhone 7.

The Honor 6X is the latest Honor mobile to be unveiled, over in China. This follow-up to the Honor 5X packs much more modest specs than the Honor 8, but provides a big-screen mobile experience for little money.

Here’s everything we know so far about the Honor 6X, including specs and a UK price and release date.

Honor 6X vs Honor 5X, what’s different?

The Honor 6X sports a very similar design to the Honor 5X, which hit the UK back in February. You once again have a metal unibody wrapped around a 5.5-inch screen, boasting a Full HD resolution. The two Honors weigh almost the same, and both phones boast a fingerprint sensor mounted on the back which are gesture sensitive, for flexible control.

However, the Honor 6X should be a lot nippier than the Honor 5X thanks to its octa-core Kirin 655 processor, backed by 3GB of RAM. That’s a step up from the Snapdragon 616 and 2GB of RAM packed inside the Honor 5X. We’re hoping the 6X doesn’t show any signs of lag or slowdown, unlike its older brother.

You also get dual cameras slapped on the back of the Honor 6X, with a 12-megapixel and 2-megapixel lens working together to produce some attractive bokeh in your shots.
