HTC has already released the One and One Mini, but it doesn’t look like the company is done yet. The Taiwanese manufacturer took to Twitter yesterday to serve up a teaser for its next product launch, promising that there are “big things ahead”.
We know that the One Max is in the works too, so put two and two together and it’s clear what HTC is getting at. And the mysterious figure that steps out of the helicopter in the above teaser may or may not be Robert Downey Jr. The company recently signed the actor to spearhead a new $12 million advertising campaign, so this teaser may be a precursor for what HTC really has in store.
As for the One Max, the device recently leaked in new pictures that give us a good idea of the size and design of the handset. It shouldn’t come as any surprise to see HTC using the same general design as on the One, but the company will be using a mix of plastic and aluminium for the larger device, similar to the One Mini. The BoomSound speakers seem to be larger on the Max too, extending further across the front of the device than on HTC’s current 2013 flagship. There’s a handy size comparison to the 4-inch Motorola XT882 as well, courtesy of ePrice and relayed by Android Central. Unsurprisingly, the One Max is huge.
Rumoured specifications for the One Max include a 5.9-inch 1080p display, a Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 processor, 2GB of RAM, HTC’s UltraPixel camera, and up to 64GB of storage. A microSD card has also been rumoured for the device – a refreshing change for the Taiwanese company – and a dual SIM variant is said to be planned for China. Given that Samsung is expected to announce the Galaxy Note 3 on September 4th, we imagine that HTC will want its own enormous device ready to go by then.
