Initially we were told that the HTC Sensation XL would finally get a taste of Android Ice Cream Sandwich in the broad window between April and June. Since then the focus has been steadily narrowing and just the other day we were given a late May due date, but it seems the update is rolling out now to some parts of Europe.
UberGizmo.com were informed by a user in Romania that his/her XL is now running Android ICS version 4.0.3 and utilises HTC’s Sense 3.6 overlay on top.
We tip our hat to HTC for delivering within its self-allotted timeframe. HTC Sensation XL users are sending in reports of update screens popping up granting them access to the latest and greatest build of Android on their devices.
The Sensation XL was the second Beats Audio-capable device, following in the footsteps of the HTC Sensation XE which made the jump to Ice Cream Sandwich at the start of the month.
As the ICS updates started appearing on HTC’s 2011 portfolio of devices, many were upset when they found out that Sense wasn’t receiving the same treatment. With the introduction of the HTC One Series at the start of the year, Sense 4.0 has impressed many users with its refined Android user experience, us included.
XL users will have to make do with Sense 3.6, but can still benefit from some notable enhancements brought on by the move to ICS. If you notice a tasty treat such as this on your XL, let us know below or via Facebook and Twitter.
