Purported iPad 5 casing spotted once again

More and more details of the iPad 5 are emerging as Apple continues to work on the tablet behind the scenes. The latest leak, served up by Tactus, is another look at the rear casing for the revised tablet, once again reinforcing reports that the design will be closer to the iPhone 5 and iPad mini.

This time around we’re seeing the reverse side of the casing, backing up a photo back in January that showed a similar chassis. Again, the case shows the black and slate design language that Apple chose to adopt for the iPhone 5 and iPad mini, but it’s not clear from this picture if the tablet will be slimmer or narrower. An alleged front fascia for the iPad 5 that was recently leaked certainly suggests that it will though.

There aren’t any firmer details as to when the iPad 5 will be released. Previous reports have suggested, however, that Apple recently pushed back production of the iPad 5 to the summer. The company now apparently plans to release the new version of the iPad sometime in September or October.

The iPhone 5S, meanwhile, is expected to begin production shortly. Reports have suggested that, unsurprisingly, the design will remain unchanged. Apple is reportedly working on vastly improved the camera inside the smartphone, and may very well include a faster processor too – traits commonly associated with “S” iPhone releases. Current information indicates that the iPhone 5S may be announced in July for a release in August.
