Motorola Defy+ confirmed for September release

Motorola has officially announced that it’s rugged Android phone the Defy+ will be arriving in the UK in September.

The Motorola Defy+ is the successor to the original Defy that launched last year. It’s water resistant, scratch resistant and dustproof, while the 3.7-inch 854×480 screen is made from tough Corning Gorilla Glass. However it’s had a significant specification boost since its predecessor, including a 1Ghz processor speeding up performance by 25%.

Motorola also released a video, which you can see below.  Running Android 2.3 Gingerbread, the Defy+ is overlayed with Motoblur which synchronises social media accounts, Flash support is included out of the box.

Other features include a 5-megapixel camera with autofocus and flash, although there’s no mention of the video capture resolution in the specification sheet.

The Defy+ has 2GB internal storage which can be expanded using a microSD card slot with 2GB card supplied in the box.

Victoria McManus from Motorola comments: “Motorola DEFY+, our latest life proof smartphone, delivers the endurance and design strength to keep up with even the most demanding lifestyles, along with the social and entertainment capabilities that put friends and fun in easy reach”

The Defy+ looks to beat its waterproof Samsung Galaxy Xcover and the Sony Ericsson Xperia Active  to the market.

There’s no information yet on which carriers will take the Defy+, but we’ll bring you more news as soon as we get it.
