Motorola Xoom Wi-Fi only drops to £299: Lowest price yet for the Honeycomb slab

It’s been a good couple of weeks for Android gear getting prices cut. Ten days ago we saw the Motorola Atrix dropping to £150 on a £10 Orange contract and Expansys slashing the cost of a SIM-free Sony Ericsson Xperia Play to a wallet-friendly £200.

Now it’s the Motorola Xoom’s turn; the original Honeycomb tablet is currently available order from Play.com for £299 with delivery included. To clarify, it’s a Wi-Fi-only edition, so there’s no extra 3G contract or tariff to have to sign up to.

Those who order now ought to get their mitts on the Xoom within 24 hours of the purchase going through.

The Motorola Xoom was the first Android tablet that came with 3.0 Honeycomb installed to hit the shelves. Its fairly recently received the update to 3.1, which makes using the Xoom a much smoother and less buggy affair than before.

What’s more, you can also plug peripheral controls (like PS3 Sixaxis pads) and hook up Bluetooth keyboards and mice to the Xoom if you’re in a workaholic kind of mood.
