Nokia N8 emerges in Russia

Eldar Murtazin from Russia-based mobile site Mobile-Reviews has got his hands on a Nokia N8,  Nokia’s first Symbian^3 phone.

The Nokia N8 (aka the N8-00) apparently features a glass multi-touch display (3.5 inches), supports multitasking and rolls with a 12-megapixel camera, Carl Zeiss optics and what appears to be a xenon flash with an LED light next to it, although this is not confirmed.

Similar to the Sony Ericsson Vivaz, the N8’s camera is reportedly capable of shooting HD-quality video (720p) and it looks as though an HDMI output is present.

We contacted Nokia for comment about the Nokia N8 and it’s specifications but it was unable to enlighten us any further.

Eldar’s verdict is that is that the Nokia N8 isn’t going to steal any smartphone thunder anytime soon. “In short, do not like. No development that we see in Android [or] iPhone OS… Exactly the same as it was before with the same sauce but with little change in functionality.”

That said, this handset could well be an early prototype so things could change from now and the Nokia N8’s release, which is rumoured to be late summer this year.
