Let’s say you want to buy a brand new Samsung Galaxy S4 mini. And let’s also say that you want a Samsung tablet to accompany your smartphone for those lazy days on the sofa. Why not pick up both at the same time? That’s exactly what Phones 4u is proposing with a new offer for the Galaxy S4 mini on certain contracts.
The retailer has now opened pre-orders for the Galaxy S4 mini, saying that the phone will be available for free on contracts starting from £27 a month. That seems a little high for a mid-range handset, especially considering that the Galaxy S4 is only a few pounds away. Still, if you want a smaller device with decent specs, the Galaxy S4 mini fits the bill. It includes a 4.3-inch 960×540 Super AMOLED display, a dual-core Snapdragon 400 processor, 1.5GB of RAM, 8GB of internal storage, and an 8-megapixel camera.
When the phone is officially available in July, though, you’ll be able to get a Galaxy Tab 2 7 for free. Well, kind of. Phones 4u says that it will only be throwing in the free tablet when you take out an LTE contract with EE for £36 a month. Not exactly “free”, then, when it’s built into the cost of the contract on top of the phone. Still, it’s a nice bonus for anyone who was looking towards a more pricey 4G contract.
Giving away a tablet along with a phone is a strategy that we’ve seen a few times from Samsung, but in this case the manufacturer may simply be clearing old stock. The Galaxy Tab 3 line was just announced recently, with the Galaxy Tab 2 series now well over a year old. We’d strongly suggest shopping around for a tablet separately, but at least you have the option of taking home the Tab 2 7 if you’re a Samsung loyalist.
