Sony Ericsson Vivaz 2/MT15i extensively previewed by Eldar Murtazin

A follow-up to the Sony Ericsson Vivaz has apparently surfaced in Russia, where it’s been duly snapped up and previewed by Eldar Murtazin. This unannounced and unofficial handset is said to run on Android 2.3/Gingerbread and features a front-facing camera for video calls. The main camera is said to be 8-megapixels with an LED flash and records HD video at 720p.

Like the Sony Ericsson Arc, the Vivaz 2/MT15i features an HDMI port and Sony’s Bravia Engine, but apparently only to render videos.

The preview mentions that Sony Ericsson’s custom UI features like the MediaScape picture gallery have been removed, in favour of the stock Android 2.3 gallery. It’s possible that this is an early version of the phone that’d yet to have custom UI features added to it.

The phone also clearly features the Xperia brand on the back, so it’s also unlikely that it’ll bear the name ‘Vivaz 2’ if/when it’s officially announced. We’ll know what the score is for sure with the Vivaz 2/MT15i come Mobile World Congress next month.
