Phones 4U nabs exclusive on white Sony Xperia S: ETA March 2012

Sony’s Xperia S is heading to Phones 4U as well as the UK’s numeric networks, O2 and Three. As well as selling the standard black version of the Xperia S, the online and high street retailer has bagged exclusive selling rights on the white Xperia S as well.

Coming sometime in March, Phones 4U is also throwing in 3 months of free unlimited Wi-Fi access at The Cloud’s 6000-plus UK hotspots.

Scott Hooton, Trading Director at Phones 4U said in a statement: “The Xperia S takes the mobile HD experience to a whole new level and packages it all up in a slick new innovative design for Sony. Being the only retailer to offer both the white and black variants, along with free 4U Wi-Fi, we’re expecting the Xperia S to be a popular smartphone of choice at Phones 4U as we enter the New Year.”

The Sony Xperia S comes with a huge 12-megapixel camera, 32GB of storage and a big 4.3-inch screen.

The display has a resolution of 1280 x 720 (720p) and the main camera records full 1080p HD video as well. Even the front-facing camera records at 720p – it’s all about the HD, you see. Running on Android 2.3 Gingerbread out of the box, it’s due to get an update to Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich later in the year.

White versions of phones are a big deal – the white iPhone 4 took what felt like seven centuries to emerge and we’ve seen white variants of the BlackBerry Bold 9900 and the Samsung Galaxy Nexus enthusiastically received.
